Halesowen Town: Not available Halesowen Town teased, tormented and tortured their vast legion of fans at Telford last night – and then presented them with another glittering prize. An amazing 6-3 semi-final replay victory over Warrington Town swept the FA Vase holders to their third Wembley appearance in four seasons against Londoners Southall on April 26. Bur as most of the 2,511 Buck’s Head crowd will confirm, Halesowen’s Vase matches should carry a government health warning. The bruising, battling men from Cheshire were finally sunk only when they made the fatal mistake of trying to play Halesowen at their own game. Warrington had drawn the two original legs of this epic clash by hustling, bustling and knocking Halesowen out of their stride. In the second half last night, they played their best football of the 300 minute tie – and paid dearly as twin brothers Lee and Paul Joinson finally found time and space to show off their devastating goalscoring talents. Paul brilliantly rounded off the best move of a crazy contest by cheekily clipping home a return pass from skipper John Woodhouse in the 62nd minute. Then Lee put the finishing touches to a couple of perfect passes from his brother before being forced to sit out the last 10 minutes when he took nasty knock on the head. Even at that late stage, with the score at 5-3, Warrington might still have forced extra-time. Gordon Hunter had the ideal opportunity to put the North West Counties side back in the game when the otherwise faultless Les Randle gave away an 81st minute penalty by tripping Steve Hughes. But Hunter hit his spot kick over the bar, and substitute Don Smith ended the agony a couple of minutes later with the goal which turned the Wembley dream into reality.
