Match Details: Saturday 27th August 1949 Warrington & District League Division 2
Warrington Town: Harold Preston Fairfield: Not available On Saturday 27th August 1949 at 3pm, referee Mr A. V. Brown blew his whistle to start a Warrington and District League Second Division game between the newly formed Stockton Heath FC and Fairfield. This was the first game played by the Stockton Heath club which had only been formed less than three months earlier. As we all know, this new club evolved in to the club which today is known as Warrington Town. The honour of scoring Heath's first goal fell to Harold Preston, but unfortunately the visitors to the Stockton Lane ground in Grappenhall scored four and secured the points. | ||||||
