This stats archive is run by James Gordon and was born out of an idea while re-building the club's official website in 2016. Eventually, during lockdown the project got some legs and a stats system was pulled together thanks to the help of Neil Studd, who had undertaken a similar project on behalf of another club.

The basic idea of the site is to document every result in Warrington Town history - and as many line-ups (therefore appearances) and goal scorers as possible. Being realistic, we know that due to the level of football the club has played at, it is very unlikely there will ever be a complete record.

However, thanks to the work of Paul Roach and Jerry Liversidge in the past, every result in the club's history is known. And securing line-ups and scorers dating back to at least the 1980s appears possible.

A complete game will include the basic game info (e.g. opponents, competition, venue, date), result, line-up, substitutes, goalscorers (including if any were penalties) and red cards.

Every single result in the club’s history is now recorded in this database. However, the dates remain unknown for large number of games in the 1950s/60s/70s.

The next priority is to ensure every goal in the club’s history has a scorer.

After then, it is then ensuring that a full starting line-up for each game is known. We do have the facility to put partial line-ups in.

Where the exact substitutions are unknown, if we know that a substitute has been used, then they will have been marked on as a sub to replace player 11 (and 10 and 9 depending on number of subs). This is so that the player gets an appearance noted for that game.

Other data we would like to record for each game is the attendance, any WTFC red cards and if any goals were penalties.

Over time, we hope to add a verified button to highlight which games are fully complete. At present, we know that the data is absolutely complete from the 1999/2000 season onwards (meaning all appearances/goals data for these players is complete and true).

To help verify this, we will at some stage add an asterix next to player records where there are incomplete games during their era.
