WARRINGTON Town extended their unbeaten league run to five games with an impressive 1-0 victory away at fellow promotion rivals Scarborough.

With new signings Ben Deegan and Jack Rudge on the bench, and Ciaran Kilheeney taking ht captain’s arm band in the absence of the injured Craig Robinson, a first half goal from Chris Gahgan on 27 minutes, earned Town three valuable league points against one of their promotion rivals.



Gahgan found the back of the net after Gillespie’s left foot shot bounced back of the post.

Warrington started the game well following the long coach journey up to the North East Coast, with Gahgan and Gillespie looking lively up front.

But Karl Wills was the first keeper to be tested on 18 minutes, as he tipped over a well struck shot by Robson.



After Gahgan gave Warrington the lead Scarborough skipper Peat came close with a speculative overhead kick.

Leading one nil at the break new signing Deegan came on for Gillespie early in the second half to make his debut andf was soon int he thick of the action, using his strength to set up Scott Metcalfe who fired over the bar.

Warrington came close to extending their lead on 79 minutes when Brown showed good technique with a well struck half voley but the keeper punched it clear.



With the clock ticking down Jack Rudge came on for Roberts in the 88th minute and as the game went into six minutes of added time the hosts pushed for an equalier.

Kilheeney had a great chance to add a second on a counter attack but shot just wide as Warrington held out for an impressive victory.
