| Match Details: Saturday 6th March 2010 Northern Premier League Division 1 North
Attendance: 191 Warrington Town: Ben Connett, Chris Gahgan, Phil Hadland, Danny Toone, Mike Duffy, Michael Grogan, Connor Taylor, Jimmy McCarthy, Mick O'Donnell, Tony Evans, Gavin Salmon. Subs not used: Rob Dutton, Tom Rutter, Richard Chetcuti, Darren Kinsey. Radcliffe: Not available PROLIFIC goal scorer Chris Gahgan missed a last minute penalty as Warrington Town crashed 1-2 at home to in form Radcliffe Borough leaving the Yellows with just one win in their last six games. Gahgan who has bagged 24 goals this season had earlier levelled for Town in the 30th minute with a stunning free kick after the visitors took an early lead through Ben Wharton after just 12 minutes. Despite plenty of possession Warrington failed to take their chances and were punished on 59 minutes as Adam Roscoe headed home unmarked to restore Radcliffe’s lead. Warrington spurned a number of chances without really troubling the keeper but looked to have salvaged a draw when substitute Tom Rutter was brought down in the box. The normally reliable Gahgan stepped up but bobbled the ball wide after sending the keeper the wrong way. After the match manager Joey Dunn refused to blame Gahgan for squandering the chance of a point. “He has scored plenty of goals for us this season including ten penalties without missing one. It is just one of those things. “At the end of the day a number of players didn’t do as they were told and it simply wasn’t good enough.” Despite just one win in the last six games and title chasing Halifax in town on Tuesday, Dunn refused to give up hope of the play offs. “There are still a lot of points to play for and a lot of teams are slipping up. If we can put a decent run together, starting on Tuesday, we still have an outside chance of making the play offs.” | ||||||
