Willenhall Town: Not available Warrington Town: Colin Flood, Lee Smith, Danny Salt, Terry Nestor, Lee Webster, Paul Clarke, Dave Tickle, Steve Latham, Simon Burton, Phil Mitchell, Paul Langley WARRINGTON Town began their tough schedule of three away games in eight days on a losing note at UniBond League first division title chasers Willenhall. Town, who drew with leaders North Ferriby United in their previous match, were unfortunate not to achieve a similar result against their second-placed opponents. They gave a resilient performance on a difficult playing surface, matching Willenhall in all departments. The outcome of Saturday's game was decided after only two minutes when Warrington's defence was caught cold. The unmarked Phil Rowe fired home a 25 yards drive which went in via the post. Warrington were twice denied an equaliser in a match containing few clear cut scoring opportunities Warrington midfielder Steve Latham went close to scoring a spectacular goal midway through the first half when he dispatched a powerfully struck 35 yards lob, which ricocheted off the top of the bar. Fellow midfielder Dave Tickle manoeuvred into space on the edge of the penalty box in the closing minutes but he directed his 25 yards effort narrowly wide. | ||||||
