Subs not used: Graeme Mitchell, Tommy Baker, Lee Webster. Chorley: Not available WARRINGTON Town were poised to win their fourth game on the spin until the officials failed to spot a blatant 80th minute shove on goalkeeper Colin Flood. It gave him no chance of saving David Eatock's deflected shot and left Town languishing near the foot of the UniBond League first division table. But the final result against fellow strugglers Chorley could have been even worse for Town. They let their heads drop after the equaliser and were fortunate that the referee disallowed a late Chorley goal and turned down a decent shout for a penalty. Town also had a goal disallowed when the referee failed to play the advantage midway through the first half. Mike Heverin was the player who found the net but the striker had better luck on 43 minutes when he lashed the ball home after reacting quickly to a hopeful punt downfield. That was one of three quality strikes in the first half. Midfielder Dave Tickle gave Town the lead with a brave header on 12 minutes. He was clattered to the ground by Chorley's goalkeeper after getting the decisive touch and Jamie Vermiglio's drilled equaliser represented another painful blow for Town. But all in all, a draw was a fair result. Chorley had the better of the chances but Town, boosted by the signing of centre back Paul Clarke from Prescott Cables, gave their all and always posed a threat on the counter attack. | ||||||
