Warrington Town: Colin Flood, Dave Tickle, Lee Smith, Terry Nestor, Lee Webster, Lee Riley, Tommy Baker, Steve Latham, Chris Moores (Graeme Mitchell), Phil Mitchell, Mike Heverin (Daryl Allen). Subs not used: Gary Bickerstaffe.

MANAGER Glenn Walker had limited selection options on Saturday as Warrington Town crashed to defeat in Sheffield

Hit by the loss of several players through injury, Walker was forced to field attacking midfielder Dave Tickle in an unaccustomed full back role and named team coach Gary Bickerstaffe, aged 37, as a substitute.

As well as injury troubles, Warrington also have a problem with scoring goals.

The lack of potency up front - Town have averaged only a goal a game in the league this season - bedevilled the side again at Stocksbridge.

Strikers Mike Heverin and Chris Moores only tested Stocksbridge's goalkeeper on two occasions between them. Their fine shots were well saved.

High riding Stocksbridge, who have reaped maximum points from their last seven games, took a first half lead with a close-range header from Ian Ring.

Stocksbridge made victory certain when Mick Goddard fired in a shot from 15 yards in the 80th minute.

Substitute Graeme Mitchell netted an 89th minute consolation goal for Warrington, rifling in an angled drive.
