Burscough: Not available

WARRINGTON Town suffered punishment at the hands of Burscough striker Robbie Cowley on Tuesday as their league fortunes continued to nose dive.

The North West Counties League's top marksman, following his four goal exploits against Town in their 6-0 annihilation at Burscough a fortnight ago, was twice again on target.

Warrington, with Dave Hughes still in temporary charge, produced far greater commitment than shown in that humiliating setback, but nevertheless offered little threat against the league's tightest defence.

Burscough keeper Paul Blasbery was tested only once when he dived full length before the interval to intercept a long range drive by Neil Boardman.

Warrington carved out only one other opportunity of note when Paul Anderton, scorer of a hat-trick in his previous game, directed a glancing header narrowly over.

After matching the visitors in the opening half hour, Town allowed Cowley a simple chance to strike home from close range.

He then left Warrington one short of conceding a half century of goals already this season with a thunderous second half header.
