STRUGGLING Warrington Town rescued a point with a goal in the seventh minute of injury time at home to Chorley. Desperately needing points and without a league win since before Christmas, the Yellows couldn’t have had a worse start as they fell behind inside the first 90 seconds, Mark Ellis screwing a shot in to the bottom corner after Adam Blakeman’s long throw was allowed to bounce in the box. Both sides had men sent off in the early exchanges of the second half, Chorley’s Joe Nolan picking up a second yellow before Bohan Dixon was shown a straight red for a tackle on Mike Calveley. Regardless of the numbers on the pitch, Warrington struggled to create chances as has been the theme of the season, Matty McDonald dragging a shot wide from a decent position in the first half. They had to wait until the 80th minute for a shot on target, Joe Rodwell-Grant’s poke goalwards cleared off the line by Blakeman, who continued to cause problems with his long throw-ins. Chorley had the better chances, Harvey Smith’s header at the back post well saved by Dan Atherton, who also denied Dubem Eze and Adam Henley with shots in the box, and they looked like closing the game out. Until, during 10 minutes of added on time, a free-kick fell for Aaron James to play the ball across for the returning Andy White to sweep home at the back post. | ||||||
