WARRINGTON Town maintained their unbeaten home record in the Northern Premier League Premier Division in a goalless draw with Morpeth Town at the Cal.Delivery Stadium. Paul Carden made just the one change to his starting line-up from last week’s draw at Workington, with Jack Doyle back from suspension to slot in at left-back in place of Matty Waters, while Troy Bourne took a place on the bench having returned from a hamstring injury. While the visitors had picked up just one point on the road before this game, they started the quicker of the two sides, with Liam Isherwood required to make three close-range saves in quick succession to keep the ball out of his net after a corner had caused chaos. Mitch Hancox headed another chance straight at Isherwood as Morpeth continued to look the more likely, with the hosts struggling to create at the other end, with James Melhado flashing a couple of dangerous crosses across the face of goal. The second half saw Town step up the intensity but again, they could not carve out much in the way of clear-cut opportunities. Visiting goalkeeper Allan Isaac made two routine saves from Jay Harris’ efforts from outside the area before Town hit his woodwork on the hour mark, although it had a fortunate element as Liam Brazier’s mishit cross looped over him and hit the angle of post and bar. Substitute Dontai Gabidon then saw an effort beaten away by Isaac seconds after coming on while Max Thompson lashed into the side netting having been sent in behind by Josh Vela. However, it was the visitors who finished strongest with substitute Aaron Chung prodding beyond Isherwood but wide of the post deep into injury time as both sides settled for a point. | ||||||
