WARRINGTON Town crashed out of the FA cup at the first hurdle, producing possibly their worst performance of the season.

Town actually started the brighter, pushing forward in search of a goal and should have opened the scoring in the 13th minute, when Neil Smith put his shot too close to Priestley in the Chorley goal, after good work by Phil Mitchell and Ged Courtney. But the home side came back into the game and Town were grateful to Danny Salt for his block on a goalbound rocket. Danny Morton, Towns goalkeeper was called into action to save a snap freekick, and shortly after the home side took the lead, when James Holden toe poked the ball past Morton and into the bottom corner. Morton was called upon soon after to deny the home side another goal, when he produced a fantastic fingertip save to deny centre half Stewart Howson.
The second half continued much as the first had ended, with the home side in contol of affairs, although Town came close with headed efforts from Captain Doug Pitts and Central defender Liam Coyne. Town should have had an equaliser but winger Paul Crompton shot weakly at Priestely, after good work by Neil Smith and Phil Mitchell.
Half way throught he second half, Chorley went further ahead, when striker Stephen Burke, finished with a good low shot after a mazy 40 yard run. The home side were now firmly on top, but Town came close to pulling a goal back when Neil Smith’s effort hit the crossbar. Town never came close to scoring again, and disappointly, went out of the FA Cup, at the first attempt.
